Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Is Withholding Release of Ineligible De Minimis Shipments (8/13/25)

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg reports that ACE now is automatically withholding release of ineligible de minimis shipments.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that on Aug. 12 [2025] it deployed an enhancement to the Automated Commercial Environment that will withhold release of de minimis shipments that are ineligible for clearance because the $800 per person/per day threshold has been met.

According to CBP, ACE will withhold release and provide notice when a shipment meets this threshold. The shipment will then need to be linked to a type 01 or 11 entry unless the filer decides to abandon, export, or return to sender.
